Commemorative specimens
(printed by el Banco de México)
The specimen banknotes were designed and printed with authentic paper money at the Banck of Mexico facilities,
with the same procedures used to produce banknotes.
The first was printed on December 2, 1989 and to date there have been 14 issues:
- 1989 - 20th Anniversary of the Bank of Mexico Banknote Factory (1969/1989)
- 1994 - 25th Anniversary of the Bank of Mexico Banknote Factory (1969/1994)
- 1997 - Lic. Miguel Mancera Aguayo, First Governor of the Bank of Mexico (1982/1997)
- 1999 - 30th Anniversary of the Bank of Mexico Banknote Factory (1969/1999)
- 2000 - 75th Anniversary of the Bank of Mexico (1925/2000)
- 2001 - Fund for indigenous education and health (FESIN)
- 2004 - 35th Anniversary of the Bank of Mexico Banknote Factory (1969/2004)
- 2009 - 40th Anniversary of the Bank of Mexico Banknote Factory (1969/2009)
- 2010 - 85th Anniversary of the Bank of Mexico (1925/2010)
- 2015 - 90th Anniversary of the Bank of Mexico (1925/2015)
- 2019 - 50th Anniversary of the Bank of Mexico Banknote Factory and 25th Anniversary of the Autonomy of the Bank of Mexico (1969 - 1994/2019)
- 2020 - 95th Anniversary of the Bank of Mexico (1925/2020)
- 2021 - Second Anniversary of the Museum of the Bank of Mexico
- 2023 - Fifth Anniversary of the Jalisco Banknote Factory (2018/2023)
None of these bills has any value, they do not have releasing power, nor are they exchangeable for authentic legal tender bills.
This means that they cannot be used to carry out commercial and exchange transactions.
